Price of Ferromanganese
And the current ex-factory price of ferromanganese is about 6400 RMB. Minus the cost, the profit is only about 200-300 RMB, and the profit margin is only 4%, which leads to the result that the factories are not willing to start working, which will lead to a shortage of goods in the market in the near future, thus leading to the price increase. At present, according to our inquiry, the price of ferromanganese has been slowly rising, so if you have demand in the near future, you can start to buy!
To understand the price of ferromanganese, firstly, we need to know the preparation process of ferromanganese and the raw materials needed so that we can have a basic understanding of the cost. First of all, we can understand the preparation process of ferromanganese and the usage of ferromanganese.

Preparation Technology of Ferromanganese
Ferromanganese is a ferroalloy consisting mainly of manganese and iron. It is smelted by a blast furnace in the earliest days, and manganese ore (including sintered ore), coke, lime, and dolomite are added to the blast furnace from the top of the furnace in proportion. The blower blows in hot air from the blast furnace air outlet and generates heat by burning coke, which melts the furnace charge and reduces it into slag and high-carbon ferromanganese, which is discharged from the bottom of the furnace at regular intervals.
The low carbon ferromanganese production method mainly has three kinds of electric silicon heat method, shaking furnace method, and oxygen blowing method. Electric silicon heat method is the production of manganese-silicon alloy with mineral heat furnace silicon as a reducing agent, in the refining furnace to reduce the manganese oxide in the ore, to the alloy of silicon down to the prescribed limit, the product is low carbon ferromanganese.
The shaking furnace method of smelting low carbon ferromanganese has to shake furnace electric furnace method and shaking furnace silicon heat method.
The blowing oxygen decarburization method produces low carbon ferromanganese with liquid high carbon ferromanganese smelted in a blast furnace or mineral-heated electric furnace as raw material, hot blending to the converter and blowing oxygen through an oxygen gun to produce low carbon ferromanganese.
Uses of Ferromanganese
The chemical property of manganese is more active than iron, and when manganese is added to the steel, it can react with ferrous oxide to form oxide slag which is insoluble in the steel and floats on the surface of the steel, so that the oxygen content of the steel is reduced.
At the same time, the combination of manganese and sulfur is greater than the combination of iron and sulfur, when added to the manganese alloy, the steel is easy to generate a high melting point of manganese sulfide with manganese and transferred to the slag, thus reducing the sulfur content of the steel, improve the malleability and rollability of steel. Manganese element also improves the strength, hardenability, hardness, and wear resistance of steel. Therefore, ferromanganese is mostly used as a deoxidizer, desulfurizer, and alloy additive in steelmaking, and is the most used ferroalloy.
Cost Composition of Ferromanganese
Let’s break down the production cost of ferromanganese.
The following chart shows the cost trend of ferromanganese production in Inner Mongolia in the last three months

It takes about 2 tons of manganese ore to produce one ton of ferromanganese, and the price is about 3200 RMB. The electricity consumption is 2,200-2,500 kilowatt hours, and the unit price is 0.48-0.55 RMB per kilowatt hour, which is about 1,200 RMB for producing one ton of ferromanganese. It takes 0.5 tons of coke, and the unit price is 2000 RMB per ton, so it takes 1000 RMB for coke. The rest of the raw material transportation cost and some labor cost, and the electrode paste cost is about 600-700 RMB. So the production cost of one ton of ferromanganese is about 6100 RMB.
